INTERFERENCE (2003)

——
2003 / interventions / various locations
Indicated Locations consists of a series of interventions in public spaces. Grids are spray-painted or painted with a brush on top of commercial posters.
The image and aesthetics of a fence, which normally closes off areas in the city that are in a state of renewal or decay, is reduced by the artist to an abstract grid pattern. In this way the image of the fence is being appropriated, but its function cancelled. Now the grid pattern functions as an indication of locations of interest and an invitation for exploring certain areas instead of pushing the public away.
