Van Wolputte's video work Getting Over is a remake of the opening scene of the independent movie Wild Style, which tells the story of a graffiti writer in the South Bronx during the early 1980s. The opening scene of the movie was the only one that director Charlie Ahearne could find the funds to do properly (legally). The rest of the film was done ‘on the run’ – without permission.
Van Wolputte decided to remake this opening scene, without any funds, for the Zero Budget Biennial at Galerie Carlos Cardenas, Paris, and galerie schleicher + lange, Paris (FR), ...
